"from another perspective this nest is a pure representation of how humans contribute to nature’s development. Certain bird species use their nests to compete for mates. High-tech-garbage, which contains materials like plastics, textiles or wires, might take their mating rituals to the next level (and to the next nature)".
I love some of the articles on NextNature. They brighten my day, the way the authors seem to be only on nodding terms with reality. The important line here is "this nest is a pure representation of how humans contribute to nature’s development".
Obviously the birds nesting instincts and racial construction memories are still intact, however their environment has become so overwhelmed with our waste, or they have been forced into an polluted urban environment that the only materials they have at their disposal to use are our cast offs. I look at the beautiful ceramic art produced by the students of Croydon West Primary School Nest designs: Art work inspired by Nature. and wonder if this is what future students will be creating?
